prevent type 2 diabetes in most people with prediabetes. In the D2d trial,
vitamin D3 at 4,000 IU daily did not significantly reduce diabetes risk
compared with placebo in the overall group.
However, newer research suggests that some people may benefit more
than others, depending on their vitamin D status, genetics, weight, and
metabolic health. More research is still needed.
Vitamin D and Insulin
Resistance
Insulin resistance happens when the body’s cells do not respond
well to insulin. This causes blood sugar to rise. Vitamin D may influence
